When it comes to basketball, one of the greatest debates of the NBA community is the age-old question: could the Curry-led Warriors beat the ’95-’96 Bulls? As the masters of the modern playstyle, the Dubs assembled the greatest shooting team ever with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant.
But, thanks to “The Last Dance,” we know how good the MJ Bulls were. They beat so many good teams and were just an unstoppable force through the 90s.
In this particular matter, there may be nobody more qualified to chime in than Steve Kerr — who played with the 90’s Bulls years before coaching the superteam Warriors.
Here’s what he said on the subject:
“It’s really a hard question to answer — not just because you’re comparing eras, but also because it’s literally tough for me to answer grammatically. I don’t know who ‘we’ is and who ‘they’ are. I’ll just say: if the two teams played each other, there’s no question that we could beat us.”
Yeah, it seems like Kerr either just didn’t want to answer the question, or he genuinely doesn’t know who would win.
Does it really matter anyway? Both teams were dominant in their own times, and nobody has ever seen anything like them. Kerr was lucky enough to be a part of both, but it doesn’t mean he knows enough to pick one over the other.
The only thing he “knows” is that he’s got a lot to show for his time with both teams. As of today, he is the only person with 3 rings as both a player and a coach in the NBA.
