Stephen Curry has missed the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks for rest and head coach Steve Kerr says his superstar guard is too tired right now.

“He’s just wiped out right now,” Kerr said. “He’s been basically healthy all year and we’ve been relying on him heavily, lot of games. He’s worn out. So, he needs the night off.”

This is just the third game that Curry has missed this season, after missing two due to a knee injury back in November. The 35-year-old being exhausted might explain why he has struggled a fair bit on the court recently.

In his last four outings, Curry has averaged 19.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. The greatest shooter in NBA history has also shot just 30.0% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arc in those games.

He might just have been running on fumes, and resting him on the second night of a back-to-back — after playing over 35 minutes against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night — seems like a sensible decision if that’s the case.

With the likes of Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins having underperformed, for the most part, this season, the load on Curry has been heavier than ever. At his age, it would only be natural for the nine-time All-Star to start feeling the effects of it as we go deeper into the season.

Steve Kerr On The Unfair Burden On Stephen Curry

This is not the first time that Kerr has brought up just how reliant they have been on the two-time MVP this season. Just earlier this week, Kerr stated that the burden on Curry for the franchise is unfair.

“We’ve thrown a ton on his shoulders. The burden that Steph Curry has on him for this franchise is unfair. The Draymond suspension… Without Dray here, that adds a lot more to Steph’s plate. We’re trying to integrate a lot of young players.”

The absence of Green has certainly made matters difficult for Curry. Add in the fact that Chris Paul is out with injury as well and you get a situation where there is a bit too much on his plate.

The struggles of his teammates along with everything else that has been going on might well be why Curry said the Warriors need to make trades. It’s not something I remember him saying in the past, and he probably realizes that changes are needed, or else this will be a lost season for him and Golden State.

Steve Kerr Gave An Update On Draymond Green

Fortunately for Curry, at least Green will be back fairly soon. Earlier this month, the NBA reinstated Draymond, and Kerr gave an update on when the former Defensive Player of the Year could return to the court.

“He’s been working out every day,” Kerr said. “I talked to him this morning, he said he’s coming around and feeling good, so there’s a chance he could play in Memphis or in Utah.”

Green has now missed the last 16 games for the Warriors, including this one against the Bucks. Golden State was initially doing fine without him, having even gone on a five-game winning streak at one point, but they have struggled recently in his absence. His return will give a much-needed boost to a team that has slipped to 18-20 on the season.
