Steve Nash Explains Why He Didn’t Call Timeouts During Atlanta Hawks’ Runs

2 Min Read

Steve Nash’s Brooklyn Nets are carrying big expectations this season after Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were clear to play. The New Yorkers started the season very well, dismantling their first two opponents, the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics.

After that, the Nets started stumbling, losing three games and winning only one of their next four. Things quickly changed for them and they’re trying to turn things around now. In their last game, the Atlanta Hawks beat them but fans consider they could have done a lot more than they did. In fact, they were surprised to see Steve Nash calling no timeouts during the Hawks’ run, something that raised some eyebrows around the league.

After the game was over, Nash was asked about his decision to not call timeouts during those stretches and he simply explained he wanted to give the team the chance to figure things out by themselves.

That strategy didn’t work for the Nets this time, but it’s not like the players were mad at the head coach or something. In fact, Kevin Durant backed Nash’s decision, explaining that he doesn’t have a problem with the way the 2x NBA MVP handled things for the Nets.

They know this isn’t the way to follow every game but Nash is starting his journey as a head coach and he’s still figuring things out about his squad. As long as the players have his back, he’ll be just fine.
