The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly working to get a deal done with the Houston Rockets for James Harden. The Beard has requested a trade from Houston and his preferred destination is Brooklyn. Now both parties must work to find a solution before another suitor shows up and ruin the Nets’ plans.
Kyrie Irving reportedly isn’t happy to see James Harden landing in Brooklyn but the Nets want to land the 2018 NBA MVP at all cost. According to Anthony Puccio of Front Office Sports, Brooklyn wants to form a superteam just not to win but dominate the entire NBA. They already made some big moves in free agency last year and now they want to do the same via trade.
The idea is for the Nets to create a super team around Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Harden, the team believing they have a three-year window with the superstars and they’re all in while at the table. One league source close to the situation said, “They [Brooklyn] not only want to win, they want to ‘dominate.’”
Brooklyn has the players to send to any other team in the league but the Rockets want one of Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant. That is a tricky situation for both teams and given that James Harden still has two years on his contract, he doesn’t have the clout to select his next team in the association.
We’re just on the third day of the offseason and this won’t be the last thing we hear on this situation. When everybody believed Giannis Antetokounmpo was going to star in the biggest saga of the offseason, James Harden told otherwise.
