J. Cole has always been close to the NBA and its community. He’s been a regular presence on summer scrimmages and pick up games and has even starred in the league’s Celebrity All-Star Game.
Cole is a much better shooter than the average hooper and he’s 6’1” so some people think he should have tried to pursue a professional basketball career.
Well, they say it’s never too late, so the 35-year old hip hop superstar is now trying to achieve his dream of playing in the National Basketball Association. According to Master P, he’s training to make a roster next season and there’s even some footage of him working out in the gym:
Master P says J. Cole is considering trying to earn an NBA contract ๐
โWhen I talked to J. Cole, he was like, โYou know, big dog, you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?โโ

And, even though it may look like a long shot, the Detroit Pistons have already offered him a tryout, claiming they’re out there to support the dreamers:
“We see you out here. You said they only got 12 slots on the Pistons. Hit us up for that tryout. This is for all the dreamers,” the Pistons replied.

J. Cole did play some college hoops before pursuing a career in hip-hop so he clearly knows the fundamentals and some more.
Still, there are some people who believe that signing J. Cole would be disrespectful towards G-Leaguers and players overseas trying to make it to the league but hey, this is all business.
