Since the start of the Stephen Curry era, the Warriors have tried their best to surround him with the best team possible. Whether luck or sheer brilliance, the Dubs managed to build a dynasty around Steph and it resulted in four championships in less than a decade.

Sadly, this past season is where things really started to go sour for the Warriors. Thanks to an incident between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green, the team’s chemistry was destroyed before the first game was played, and Poole was the guy they pinned most of the blame on.

“They hated Jordan Poole,” Barkley said in a recent conversation with NBC Sports Bay Area. “They really hated Jordan Poole. “That’s the No. 1 thing I said to myself: They really hated Jordan Poole.”

The fans weren’t shocked that Poole was traded, but they were surprised at who he was traded for. As one of the best young shooters in the game, JP should have gone for a premium package, but the Dubs settled for a 38-year-old Chris Paul instead.

The Warriors obviously deserve some blame for how they handled the whole thing and for the fact that they let Poole go for a pretty meager return. However, Draymond Green may be the one most to blame for how the Poole situation ultimately played out.

Was Draymond’s Feud An Example Of Bad Leadership?

The Warriors made their choice this summer when they inked Dray to a new deal days after trading Poole to D.C., but it’s hard to ignore his role in all of this.

Had he kept his cool and not punched his teammate in the face that day, the Warriors might be in a whole new situation today.

“He says Jordan Poole is not an adult… then you failed, Steph failed, Klay failed, Steve Kerr failed,” said Eddie Johnson. “Because he’s a young player… It’s a way to approach them… Now Jordan Poole is not an adult, it was on your watch, Draymond.”

At the end of the day, nobody can take away what Poole was able to accomplish during his short run with the Warriors; it’s just a real shame that it had to end in such a disappointing way.
