Top-3 Prospect James Wiseman Hints At His Potential Destination In The Draft

A year ago, James Wiseman was the consensus first-overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft but you know how fast things can change and how cautious teams are when it comes to choosing the best prospect of their class.

But even though we couldn’t see much of him because of his suspension and eventual drop-out from the University of Memphis, it seems like James Wiseman’s physical tools and talents are still enough to grant him the status of a top-3 prospect.

Moreover, he recently hinted at the possibility of joining the Golden State Warriors or Charlotte Hornets via Draft, which almost assures that he’ll be taken somewhere around the first three spots:

“It was basically just Golden State and Charlotte who stayed in contact with me the whole time,” Wiseman said.

Obviously, it’s likely that you’ve noticed that there’s one team from the top-3 missing in Wiseman’s list: the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are entitled to the first-overall pick. And, when asked about them, the Memphis product claimed that he hasn’t even spoken to them yet:

“In terms of talking to them, I haven’t,” he admitted.

A couple of weeks ago, the news broke that Wiseman allegedly didn’t want to be drafted by the Timberwolves because of Karl-Anthony Towns’ presence, so there could be some truth in his word, or perhaps is just a stun to scare the Timberwolves away.

As of now, it seems like the Timberwolves are strongly leaning towards landing Anthony Edwards with the first-overall pick of the Draft, so we’ll have to wait and see if the Warriors take Wiseman at 2 or if he slips to Michael Jordan’s lap at 3.
