Free agent Torrey Craig is now a Chicago Bull, agreeing to a two-year deal with a player option.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the development. The 32-year-old was one of the rotational pieces for the Phoenix Suns, adding to their depth. He played 79 games, starting in 60 of them, averaging 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 three-pointers in 24.7 minutes.
At 6-foot-7, Craig comes in as a capable defender who can guard multiple positions and has shown significant improvement in recent years as an outside shooter.
The report from the site also added that Craig is looked at as a “solid fit” alongside the Bulls duo of Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. His CV sees him as an overseas player who inked a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets in 2017 and had subsequent stops with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers before landing in Phoenix.
The Bulls Will Need To Have A Smart Free Agency Season
To their credit, the Chicago Bulls looked quite active in the free agency so far as they managed to retain Coby White on a new contract. They also signed veteran PG Jevon Carter to a three-year deal and had big man Nikola Vucevic return to a three-year extension.
With Torrey Craig in the mix, they are making the right moves by adding players who give them the much-needed depth in the absence of DeRozan and LaVine. With the team applying for their $10.2 million DPE for Lonzo Ball’s injury, they have a chance to add one more solid name in free agency.
After failing to make the playoffs this past season, the Bulls have taken the first step to making the right roster construction. Will they be successful this season around? Only time will tell.
