Tristan Thompson Joins Celtics On Two-Year, $19 Million Deal

1 Min Read

Former Texas star Tristan Thompson has agreed to join the Boston Celtics on a two-year, $19 million contract, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.

Thompson spent his first nine seasons with the Cavaliers, even helping them secure a title in 2016. But as his 30th birthday approaches, Thompson embarks on a new chapter with a team that is on the rise in the East.

For Danny Ainge and his crew in green, the Thompson signing signals their first big-name acquisition since Kemba Walker last summer. With a rather thin rotation in the frontcourt, Thompson should help fill some of their biggest needs, especially on the offensive glass.

With career averages of 9.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, his impact should be felt on the Celtics.
