Golden State Warriors president Bob Myers is generally considered one of the best executives in sports. He has been a key factor in the Warriors being able to create a dynasty during the Stephen Curry era.

Despite his role in the Golden State Warriors dynasty, it seems as though the franchise and Bob Myers could potentially part ways in the future. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN revealed that Myers is in the “final months of his contract” and is currently “without a new deal.”

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers — architect of four NBA championships in the past eight years — is entering into the final months of his contract and remains without a new deal, sources told ESPN.

Golden State ownership and Myers — a two-time NBA Executive of the Year — have had conversations on a new contract, but those talks appear to be on hiatus, sources said.

Myers’ contract is believed to expire at the end of June, sources said.

“My entire focus is on the season and the team,” Myers told ESPN on Saturday, declining to discuss his status further.

“We love Bob and hope he is here for a long time,” Golden State owner and CEO Joe Lacob told ESPN on Saturday.

There is no doubt that it is in the Warriors’ best interest to retain Bob Myers. Having an executive like him leading the team is definitely good, and he has often managed to make elite moves that went under the radar to keep the dynasty going.

Charles Barkley Thinks Bob Myers Is The Second-Best Thing To Happen To The Warriors After Steph Curry

There is no doubt that Bob Myers is extremely valuable to the Golden State Warriors. A lot of analysts can see that, and Charles Barkley once claimed that Myers was the second-best thing to happen to the franchise after Stephen Curry.

“Bob Myers has done a fabulous job,” Barkley said. “He won the Finals for those guys this year, going out and getting Andrew Wiggins. He was the second-best player. Jordan Poole. Otto Porter.”

“So, Bob Myers was the second-best thing to happen to the Warriors since Steph Curry the last few years,” Barkley said. “So, give Bob Myers some credit. And, obviously, Otto Porter played great. Drafting Jordan Poole. You talk about Steph and those guys, give Bob Myers a ton of credit. He deserves it.”

There is no doubt that the Andrew Wiggins trade was key for the Warriors winning the 2022 championship. Bob Myers was the architect of that move, and he even managed to get Jonathan Kuminga in the deal.

Hopefully, we see the Warriors retain Bob Myers in the future. He is definitely an elite executive. If they don’t, though, it is quite likely that other franchises would line up to hire Myers.
