League Executives Believe Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Re-Sign With Bucks In 2021 Free Agency

2 Min Read

There has been much chatter about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks. A lack of a verbal commitment to the franchise has left many with the impression that he would be willing to leave in the summer of 2021.

Already, multiple suitors have emerged for the reigning MVP including the Warriors, Knicks, Lakers, and Raptors.

But according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, league executives have no expectation for Giannis to leave Milwaukee next summer.

“Given how well the Bucks are playing, every executive we spoke to expects Antetokounmpo to re-sign with Milwaukee. The Bucks are overwhelming favorites to reach the NBA Finals, and falling short of that bar looks to be the only thing that could put Milwaukee’s MVP in play.”

So, it’s up to the Bucks to determine the fate of Giannis’ future. If they fail to meet expectations this postseason, it could open up the possibility of a split between them and their superstar.

However, with the best record in the league and no clear challenger in the East, it is highly unlikely that the Bucks don’t at least make the Finals.

And even then, there is no guarantee that he won’t re-sign. Unlike other stars, Giannis believes in loyalty to his team and is more inclined to stay and help his team win than he is to jump off the ship and join another squad.

We’ll find out the truth to all of this soon enough.
