One of the biggest teams in connection to Kevin Durant in 2019 free-agency was the New York Knicks, who had been rumored to be on Durant’s radar for years.
The Knicks have it all — the lure, the glamour, the bright lights, and it’s easy to see why a guy like KD would want to make his home there.
But instead of actually going there when the time came, he chose the team next door instead, much to the surprise of most within the NBA community. But why is it that we were so mistaken on Durant’s destination? Why was there so much connection between the Knicks and Durant?
In an interview on Bleacher Report’s “Take it There with Taylor Rooks,” the 2x Finals MVP provided an explanation:
“It’s the NBA. Anything can start. Rumors happen, stuff starts,” Durant said. “It’s just the nature of the beast.
“Every fan on social media enjoys seeing what their team is doing as far as free agency.”
Essentially, the chatter was just that: chatter. It seems all too many people have “insight” into the free agency process nowadays, and it’s causing some confusion.
Last summer especially, it seems there were a lot of rumors that were simply unfounded, made up, or completely exaggerated. But, as Durant points out, it’s just the nature of the beast.
