San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has had an interesting offseason. From spending time in the Shaolin temple in China to training with NBA legend Kevin Garnett, Wembanyama embraced a wide variety of training regimens to improve his performance for the 2025-26 season.
While the aforementioned methods already impressed several fans on social media, reports of the Spurs star training with NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon generated a lot of buzz.
Given that Olajuwon, a maestro of footwork and low-post moves, has trained superstars such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Dwight Howard, expectations of Victor Wembanyama to grow significantly were also high.
In this regard, footage from Wembanyama’s workouts with Olajuwon recently went viral, and the impact of the legend’s training couldn’t be more apparent.

“Bro trained with the Avengers this summer, gang. Wtf,” shared one fan, in awe of the big man’s offseason training.
Another user added to this, “The league is cooked. First Shaolin, now Hakeem. It’s so over.”
“WHOOO LET THIS HAPPEN???” exclaimed one user.
“Been collecting knowledge from some of the all-timers,” noted another.
“Wemby learning dream shakes from the Dream. It’s about to get scary for everyone,” claimed another hyped user.
“You know how good you have to be to make a top 10 player make that sound at the 47 mark? Buy all the Wemby stock ASAP,” added one user, noting how Olajuwon was also impressed with Victor Wembanyama’s footwork.
One fan was already convinced of the star’s potential, as they said, “That’s the MVP right there.”
“This kid’s gonna dominate this league, man,” announced another user.
Meanwhile, another was just as stunned, as they acknowledged, “There really isn’t anything he can’t do.”
“Are we deada**? Ts is not fair,” complained one user.
The result of Victor Wembanyama’s training will only be revealed during the San Antonio Spurs’ regular season performance. With Wembanyama growing in stature, both literally and figuratively, the Spurs will aim to be a more competitive team in the Western Conference this season.
Hakeem Olajuwon Reveals Approach To Training Victor Wembanyama
In a recent interview with ESPN, two-time NBA champion Hakeem Olajuwon revealed that his approach to training Victor Wembanyama was modeled on “big guards” instead of traditional big men.
“He basically wanted to know how to leverage. Let’s leverage any opportunities you have, inside, outside, with opportunities in different situations without wasting energy,” said the two-time champion. “You don’t want to dribble like a big man. We are big guards where you can play 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 with the freedom to create outside, inside, crossover, and pull up without wasting any energy with any player because you have the advantage every night on everybody.”
Wembanyama’s length is already impressive. However, it is his athleticism, balance, and agility that make him a more prominent threat on the floor. On this note, Olajuwon noted how simply adding variations to his array of shots, specifically the jump hook, could make him nearly unstoppable.
“You know how well he can shoot, right? Can you imagine putting in the moves with him finishing his shots?” Olajuwon added. “If somebody like him can jump hook, you’re at his mercy. You can’t get to it. You can’t get to his jump shot or jump hooks.”
With such praise, the hype surrounding Victor Wembanyama is expected to grow exponentially. Coming off a solid performance of 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two blocks against the Miami Heat, the star will look to ramp things up in San Antonio’s upcoming preseason game against the Utah Jazz on Friday, Oct. 10, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
