With the Los Angeles Lakers not in action until Wednesday, LeBron James headed over to Dodger Stadium with his wife Savannah James for Game 5 of the NLDS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. When the couple appeared on the big screen, LeBron first put an imaginary crown on his head and then on Savannah’s.

LeBron has been to a fair few Dodgers games by now and perhaps proved to be a good luck charm for them here. This Game 5 was a do-or-die affair and the Dodgers won 2-0 to win the series 3-2 and advance to the NLCS.

The Dodgers were on the brink of elimination when they went down 2-1 in the series, but the pitchers then stepped up in a big way. They shutout the Padres in the 8-0 win in Game 4 and did so again here. Following the Dodgers’ win in Game 5, James took to X to congratulate them too.

“Congrats
Dodgers on Advancing to NLCS!!!!”

All that’s standing between the Dodgers and the World Series are the New York Mets. They are the favorites heading into that series and if they do win it’ll be the first time they make it to the big stage since they won it all in 2020.

Of course, LeBron and the Lakers also won it all in the NBA in 2020 and they’d be hoping to make it back to the Finals in 2024-25. I don’t give them a good chance of accomplishing that, though.

The Lakers made no significant moves this offseason with the only major change being that JJ Redick replaced Darvin Ham as their head coach. It’s basically the same group that went 47-35 last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs and I don’t expect next season to be all that different.

The Lakers might win a series, but that’s about it unless they make a big trade. While I don’t expect the team to have a lot of success, LeBron is likely to excel on the court once again.

James averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game for the Lakers last season. He has impressed in his two preseason outings in 2024 too and it’s a pity that the front office isn’t maximizing the team’s chances of winning by going all in. They continue to keep one eye on the future and time will tell if that was the right thing to do.

LeBron James Acknowledges He Wouldn’t Be In The Position He Is Today Without Savannah James

LeBron and Savannah have been together for over two decades and the former has always sung the latter’s praises for everything she has done for him. After helping Team USA win the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, LeBron praised Savannah by stating he wouldn’t be in the position he is today without her.

“My wife takes care of the business, man,” James said. “She’s the best. Without her, I wouldn’t even be in this position to be able to do what I do and love the game. I love it. So, to have my wife and my two boys and my daughter here and the rest of my family here, it was everything.”

Savannah has supported LeBron every step of the way and urges him to continue playing the game he loves so much. No one would have blamed her for wanting him to call it quits after 21 seasons and be with the family, but she hasn’t gone that route. Savannah handles everything back home in the best way possible and that allows LeBron to go out and dominate on the court.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
