Stephen Curry Files Trademark For ‘Nuit Nuit’ In Europe And The United States

What started as a gesture and phrase to mock French fans could become merchandise for Stephen Curry, as he filed a trademark for his signature phrase.

Stephen Curry has reportedly filed to trademark the phrase ‘Nuit Nuit’ in the United States and Europe, perhaps to sell merchandise. With the news being broken by Josh Gerben, Curry could be selling the same hoodie that he was seen wearing at an afterparty in the wake of Team USA’s gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Curry did the ‘night night’ gesture in Paris after making a clutch shot against France in the gold medal game of the 2024 Olympics. It was his way of silencing the raucous French crowd who were hoping to will their team on and close the gap against Team USA. Needless to say, it was highly effective.

Curry has used the ‘night night’ gesture and catchphrase in recent years, as he has put on some miraculous performances in hostile environments. The gesture is his way to interact with, and shut down hostile fans and critics in the arena, and put his personal stamp on the game.

Stephen Curry isn’t the only person to use this line in high-profile circumstances. This week, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr invoked Curry’s name and catchphrase at the Democratic National Convention when taking a shot at Donald Trump.

Do not be surprised if Curry starts selling merchandise laden with this catchphrase, whether that be independently, or through his massive Under Armour deal. But there is no doubt that his merchandise will sell very well, considering his massive popularity and appeal among fans of the NBA.

Being able to capitalize on his success with Team USA is impressive, as the ‘night night’ catchphrase was now enjoyed by so many more people, rather than when he did it while playing for the Golden State Warriors.

Where Does Stephen Curry’s NBA Future Lie?

After what was a sensational run in the Olympics, where Curry played a massive role in Team USA’s gold medal win, there has been some speculation about where his future lies in the NBA, considering that the Golden State Warriors are no longer a contender in the stacked Western Conference.

The Warriors are reportedly aware of their weaknesses as a team and understand that they are not a championship-level team. However, despite this, the Warriors reportedly have no intention of letting Stephen Curry leave and play for another franchise in the NBA.

Curry could have had LeBron James as a teammate, but it was recently revealed that his agent Rich Paul, shut down any talks of a trade between the Lakers and the Warriors, out of fear of what a move like this would do to his reputation in the league.

As things stand, the Warriors will probably be a team hovering around the play-in range, and shouldn’t be expected to make any major waves in the playoffs. However, when a team has a player the caliber of Stephen Curry, they cannot be ruled out of making some kind of deep run in the playoffs and cause problems for other teams.
