Kevin Durant won his fourth gold medal at the Olympics with Team USA today. With this win following up his gold medal wins in 2012, 2016, and 2021, Durant now becomes the most successful men’s Team USA player in Olympic history, surpassing Carmelo Anthony with four gold medals.

Durant has been a stalwart of Team USA and has represented his country at the Olympics every year since he was selected in 2012. Durant has gone on to become their leading scorer, and at this tournament, become the leading scorer in Team USA history, surpassing women’s basketball legend Lisa Leslie for the most points scored.

Durant had a hilariously casual reaction to breaking the record, which is very much keeping in character for him. Whereas, Lisa Leslie actually took to social media to congratulate Durant for breaking her record and wished him well as he looked to win the gold medal. Her well wishes may have paid off, as KD and Team USA won the gold one again.

Durant had a great game against France, scoring 15 points, with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal to boot. Despite not starting a single game at the Olympics till today, Durant stayed consistent. For KD, the role didn’t matter, he put up big numbers in games for the love of hoops.

KD has every reason to be really proud of himself. To be the most successful player in men’s Team USA history is a big achievement in its own right. But it becomes even more impressive when you consider the players he is ahead of, like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.

Kevin Durant Motivated By Social Media Activity?

A lot has been made about Kevin Durant’s social media activity during the Olympics. After Team USA’s incredible win over Serbia, he took to X to call out American Nuggets fans who rooted against them to support Nikola Jokic. His reaction was understandable, as KD takes a lot of pride in representing Team USA.

But Durant didn’t just stop there. He was up until 5 in the morning in European time going back and forth with fans on X who were trying to disrespect him or diminish his and his team’s achievement. For Durant, respect might just be more important than sleep, and he did what he does better than most players – destroy critics on the internet.

But it wasn’t just fans who caught the smoke from Kevin Durant. Dennis Schroder made comments about why European basketball is better than American basketball, a comment Kevin Durant responded to by posting a picture of Team USA with their gold medals, poking fun at Schroder by calling Team USA both entertaining and high-IQ.

Durant will have a field day with anyone who tries testing him on social media. Especially now that he has backed up everything he was saying by winning the gold medal. A quick word of advice to any fan thinking of slandering KD on social media tonight – just don’t.
