Unsurprisingly, the three biggest fanbases in the NBA were in the top three spots as the Lakers came first, the Warriors came second, and the Knicks came third.
The Miami Heat slotted in at fourth and a surprising fifth-place came from the fans of the Dallas Mavericks.

A large fanbase will have a lot of annoying elements in them, so the Lakers, Warriors, and Knicks being atop this list isn’t very shocking. The Heat don’t have as expansive a fanbase but have been very consistent over the last five years and have generated a lot of conversation about themselves in that time frame.
The Mavericks aren’t looked to have a massive fanbase, given they’re in a city where the NFL team heavily out favors the NBA team. But with the advent of international fans rooting for the team, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, it makes sense how they found themselves on this list.
Lakers Fans Are Ruthless
It isn’t surprising to see that the Lakers topped this list, as they are a fanbase with extremely high standards. Coupled with that, they also employ LeBron James who brings a fan army of his own to the squad. Russell Westbrook‘s time on the club proved that, with Charles Barkley going out of his way to criticize fans for how they treated Russ.

Being highly visible and annoying as a fanbase would be preferable to being irrelevant because it shows your team is at least doing well. The Mavericks are No. 5 on this list despite falling into irrelevance towards the end of the Dirk Nowitzki years. The reason they are at this spot now is because they have superstars like Doncic and Kyrie.
The bigger the fanbase, the bigger the elements of annoyance in that group. The fact that a fanbase is that big in itself is something to appreciate, as we see many teams in the NBA scratch and claw for a quarter of that relevance.
