Potential Three-Team Trade Would Send Buddy Hield To The Mavericks And OG Anunoby To The Indiana Pacers

Mavericks could land Buddy Hield in wild three-team trade proposal.

There may not be a team in the NBA more desperate than the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. After giving up the farm for Kyrie Irving, they risk the possibility of losing him for nothing if he walks in July. And considering where the Mavericks finished in the standings with both Kyrie and Luka Doncic, it’s hard to believe they’d do much better with Luka by himself.

So, if the Mavs want to save face and put their guys in a position to make some noise, they need to make a move. As it stands, they don’t have much to offer, but NBA insider Jake Weinbach hinted at one three-team deal that could work for every team involved.

“The Pacers, Raptors, and Mavs could engage in a three-team deal that would send OG Anunoby to Indiana, multiple first-round picks that would include the No. 7 overall pick to Toronto, and Buddy Hield to Dallas. Toronto is actively exploring options to move up in the draft.”

The Raptors would get draft picks in this trade, which would likely start a complete rebuild around Scottie Barnes.

Meanwhile, after failing to luck out in the draft lottery, it seems the Pacers are ready to start building to compete. Thanks to the rise of Tyrese Haliburton, they already have a star to build around and Myles Turner gives them a solid defensive presence under the rim. OG Anunoby would obviously not make Indiana favorites in the East, but it might get them up another level in the standings.

Most importantly, it’ll start to give the Pacers an edge defensively, which they will need if they want to be a threat in the postseason.

The Mavericks Need Some More Help Around Luka

For the Mavericks, they will work hard to re-sign Kyrie Irving this summer, but they’ll need more than him to change the situation. With a guy like Buddy Hield, they’ll have another sharpshooter to lean on and take pressure off Doncic and Irving to perform.

In 80 games this season, Buddy averaged 16.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on 45% shooting. In Dallas, it’s hard to tell how his numbers would change, but he’s not a bad pick-up at all for a team looking for any way to get better.
