The Los Angeles Lakers are tied 1-1 in their Western Conference Semifinals matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers took Game 1 in San Francisco but got blown out in Game 2.

The Lakers faced the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, but the team had various issues. The Warriors are the defending champions and a much more intense challenge. As such, James explained this to his younger teammates in a creative way.

“Level 1 complete, it get harder and harder each level, alright?” James said. “Y’all play Call of Duty. Y’all know what that means going to the next level. Y’all play Mario Brothers, y’all know what it mean in Super Contra when he goes to the next level. So Level 2 is upon us. Tomorrow, decompress, get away from the game, and then we come back and be locked in, alright?”

It’s a testament to how relatable LeBron James wants to stay, no matter how much younger his teammates get. He knows what he needs to say to keep his team motivated as these playoffs continue to unfold. The Los Angeles Lakers have a real chance of making it to the Western Conference Finals, and James will likely say anything he needs to so it can happen.

LeBron James Explained How Being A Father Has Helped Him Motivate His Teammates

It’s no secret that LeBron James wants to play with his sons Bronny and Bryce in the NBA. And with that being a very realistic possibility, it also means that many of his teammates are closer in age to his sons than they are to him. And James has said this season that being a father has helped him bring the best out of his teammates

“I think it comes from being a father… having three kids I understand that, I gotta parent my kids differently to get the best out of them. Some of them I can yell at. Some I gotta be more comforting. Some I need to pull away to the side. Some I can yell at in front of the group and they’ll be fine with that. So I think that helps.”

In any case, his analogy isn’t wrong either, the playoffs only get more difficult with every passing series. Having LeBron James means a lot in the postseason though, there is a reason that he has carried his teams to the NBA Finals on 10 separate occasions during his career.
