Despite finishing second in the West, nobody was giving the Kings much of a chance against the Golden State Warriors in this best-of-seven series. But despite the youth and inexperience, Sacramento continues to give the defending champs a fight.
Now, with the series tied at 2-2, it’s on the Kings to defend their home court and prove that they deserve to be taken more seriously in the West. Speaking to the media ahead of the pivotal matchup, head coach Mike Brown spoke to the media to reveal the mentality he’s keeping in the locker room:
“These guys are the freaking champions. They’ve been through it,” said Brown. “This is our first time trying to get past the first round… so if you sit here and you ask me how I feel about being 2-2? Yeah, I wish it was 4-0 and we were moving on but we’re 2-2. We took care of what we were supposed to at home. They took care of what they were supposed to at home. Now it’s a three-game series. Let’s see if we have enough to get it done.”

The Kings have passed almost every test so far this season, but this game tonight will be their biggest one so far this season. After dropping two in a row against the Warriors, this is their chance to re-take control and put themselves in a position to advance.
Why Did The Kings Lose Game 4?
If the Kings want to win this series, they will need to play smarter offensively and get better looks for their top players. De’Aaron Fox has been finding his spots, but guys like Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray, and Kevin Huerter have failed to find a rhythm.
“Space the floor. Stop and spray the ball. If we missed a wide-open three, that is way better than driving and throwing up some crazy stuff,” said coach Brown after Game 4. “At the end of the day, this is what I keep telling our guys, you’re gonna have to knock these guys out. You can’t rely on the referee, because if I’m a referee, the shots that we’re taking at the rim in transition, I ain’t call it either cause we’re begging for a foul.”
We will see how the Kings adjust for Game 5, but it’s unlikely that the Warriors will roll over now given the years of experience under their belt and the sheer greatness of Stephen Curry.
Still, you have to give credit to Brown for getting his squad in the right head space to win the series and prove everyone wrong.
