LeBron James finds himself in a position right now that he hasn’t been in too often in his career, his team is winning even in his absence.

The Lakers made it three wins in a row by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night to improve to 37-37 and James was proud of their performance.

Anthony Davis led the way with 37 points and 14 rebounds as the Lakers got to .500 for the first time this season. Four other Lakers scored in double figures as well, with Dennis Schroder registering 21 points and 6 assists as they won 116-111.

They also got this win despite D’Angelo Russell being unavailable and the team deserves a lot of credit for finding ways to win despite missing some key players. They are now 10-5 since the All-Star break and are in with a great chance at perhaps even securing that sixth seed.

Anthony Davis Spoke On The Pressure On Him To Deliver In LeBron James’ Absence

When LeBron went down with that foot injury, all eyes were on Davis. He admitted that the pressure was on him to step up and carry this team, with the results being somewhat mixed. He has had some great games, like the one here against the Thunder, but there have also been some disappointing ones.

Fortunately for him and the Lakers, their role players have stepped up, with the most recent instance being Austin Reaves exploding for 35 points against the Orlando Magic. They’ll need different individuals to keep stepping up, as there is still some uncertainty on just when LeBron will return. Up next for the Lakers are two games against the Chicago Bulls, which will see them take on Patrick Beverley. The ex-Laker had stated after joining the Bulls that he wanted to knock his former team out of the playoffs and you can be sure he is going to try his hardest to do that.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
