Stephen Curry was having a season for the ages in this 2022-23 campaign. The Warriors superstar was hitting greater heights than the ones he hit even during his unanimous MVP season and he was almost single-handedly keeping the team afloat.
Then, disaster struck in the game against the Indiana Pacers last week, as Curry suffered a shoulder injury and Adrian Wojnarowski reported that he will miss several weeks because of it. The Warriors have lost two out of three games without Steph, with the latest coming in the form of a 132-94 hammering at the hands of the New York Knicks. Curry was on the sidelines for the game and gave a worrying update on his status.
Steph: "It's kind of a wait and see approach. I'm still in the early healing process so I'm nowhere near even like picking up a basketball yet… It'll be a few weeks."pic.twitter.com/rs0Jtm198O

“This is an interesting one just because I haven’t had an injury like this to the shoulder. So, it’s kind of a wait-and-see approach. I’m still in the early healing process, so I’m nowhere near, even like, picking up a basketball yet.”
“It’ll be a few weeks. I think into the New Year and I’ll start to key in on a timeline from there.”
Considering it has almost been a week since it happened, it is concerning when he says he is nowhere near even picking up a basketball. It seems like they’ll be setting a timeline once we get to 2023 and who knows what that would look like. Curry also reflected on some of his iconic moments at Madison Square Garden in the second quarter and it is a shame he wasn’t able to put on a show for the fans once again.
Can The Warriors Stay Afloat Without Stephen Curry?
Curry had almost single-handedly ensured that the Warriors weren’t a complete disaster at the start of this season. A lot of their players were underperforming and there were some big concerns regarding if they could step up in his absence.
One man who has certainly upped his game is Jordan Poole, who has scored at least 25 points in each of his last three games and he dropped 43 against the Raptors for their only win in this stretch without Steph. He’ll need Klay Thompson to step up too though, as he is looking a bit shaky once again after a promising stretch just prior to Curry’s injury.
