Paul George has been a great player for nearly a decade in the NBA and while there was a time when he was the butt of all jokes for his playoff meltdowns, those days are well and truly in the past now. George redeemed himself with some excellent performances in their run to the Western Conference Finals in 2021 and has played well this season too, whenever he has been healthy.

George is averaging 23.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG while shooting 45.7% from the field and is the biggest reason why the Los Angeles Clippers have stayed afloat despite Kawhi Leonard being a non-factor for much of the season. While George has been playing quite well, fans have noticed that he isn’t wearing his signature Nike PG6 shoes anymore. He has opted to wear some Kobe Bryant shoes and we might finally have an answer as to why that is the case.

“With Paul George rocking Kobe’s his last two games and various other games this season, it’s rumors going around that the PG6 was the last iteration of his signature line”

Considering the PG6 is quite popular among fans and players alike, this would be an interesting decision, to say the least. Perhaps Nike is now looking to target the up-and-coming stars of the league, as Ja Morant is in line to get his signature shoe from Nike. George is getting up there in age, as he is 32 years old and will be 33 by the end of the season.

Time Is Running Out For The Clippers

With George and Leonard dealing with injuries while being in their 30s, it is fair to say they both won’t be at the top of their game for much longer. The two had teamed up in 2019 and were expected to finally win the franchise that elusive title but it hasn’t happened yet.

Injuries have been a big reason why and as you get older, you don’t get any healthier. Charles Barkley, who was very high on the Clippers in the preseason, is worried about their prospects as Leonard and George have missed so much time. Will this finally be the season when everything comes together? We’ll find out in a few months.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
