Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league, and there is no doubt that a lot of teams would love to have him on their roster. He is an elite scoring forward, and many view him as the best isolation player in the league. Recently, Durant has requested a trade from his franchise, meaning that a lot of teams have been trying
One of Kevin Durant’s preferred destinations is the Phoenix Suns. They definitely have solid packages they could offer for Kevin Durant, but it’s a matter of if the Brooklyn Nets think that their offers are enough.
An NBA GM who spoke to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report suggested that a package that features Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and five first-round picks is not enough to acquire Kevin Durant. That is obviously a huge offer, but it is clear that Kevin Durant is valued high among front offices in the league, and for a good reason.
Even with Phoenix and Miami, Durant’s two known destinations on his wish list, the Suns and Heat would struggle to surrender a requisite package for the Nets to part with Durant, while their remaining team still boasts a contending rotation. There does not seem to be any package from Miami that would entice the Nets without including Bam Adebayo. Phoenix could theoretically form a trio of Durant, Devin Booker and Chris Paul, but who else would be left?
“Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and five picks still isn’t enough to me for KD,” one general manager told B/R.
There is no doubt that the Brooklyn Nets could potentially end up accepting that sort of offer in the future. However, it was previously reported that the Brooklyn Nets want All-Star level players for Kevin Durant, and neither of the players from the Suns’ package has made an All-Star team.
It remains to be seen where Kevin Durant ends up. There are definitely other franchises that have registered interest in Kevin Durant, most notably the Toronto Raptors. Hopefully, this trade saga can wrap up soon, and we’ll have to wait to find out where the Nets will send Kevin Durant.
