The 2023 NBA trade deadline is almost upon us, with teams across the league still weighing their options. The first trade has already gone through for the Los Angeles Lakers, but there are a lot more players that could potentially move in the coming days and weeks. As such, speculation about which teams will sell and which ones will acquire players has been rampant across social media.

Fans and media members often discuss which teams can fill the holes on their roster with which players. Every team’s fans want their franchise to get the players they need without giving up anyone of value. And trade simulators exist for anyone who has an idea to see if it would be viable or not. But those simulators don’t account for real-world contingencies like scale, which is how an old idea from 2021 has gone viral that involved a 130-player trade.

The trade, among many other moves, would see Joel Embiid and James Harden, along with Pascal Siakam on the Washington Wizards. The Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook would join the Oklahoma City Thunder. And the Lakers would get players like Lu Dort, Fred VanVleet, and Matisse Thybulle. A trade of this scale could never go through, but it’s a fun commentary on the wild ideas fans keep coming up with.

NBA Fans Made A Lot Of Jokes About This Old Trade Idea After It Went Viral

This being a joke was not lost on NBA fans, who have been listening to trade ideas and rumors for a solid month now. So there were lots of reactions to it, including some mocking the moves in the trade and others jokingly wondering who won the trade.

“Took the time and say thunder and wizards would win.”

“Sixers taking a massive L damn.”

“Most realistic NBA trade scenario.”

“Can you even imagine something like this?”

“I want to see this happen for the insanity.”

“How much time do you think I have?!…..gotta be the Thunder.”

“The Thunder would finally win a ring.”

“I’m here for this trade.”

“I took the time to say Wizards would win.”

“Dear God, what is this?”

“This is so ridiculous, I love it.”

Something of this magnitude is impossible, but it would be historic and wild to see teams swap almost entire rosters. Jokes aside though, many teams across the league need to get moving if they want to make serious improvements before the playoffs, there isn’t much time left before the deadline.
