Andrew Wiggins’ absence from the Warriors was quickly becoming one of the NBA’s biggest mysteries. We knew from the start that something serious and personal was going on, but the details of his ordeal were being kept closely guarded.
But now, he’s officially back in the lineup, and it’s a clear sign that he’s getting closer to returning to action.
I’ve been told that Andrew Wiggins is back in the Bay Area. He had spent most of the recent weeks out of town.

As arguably, the team’s second-best player in their playoff run last year, Wiggins’ leave of absence had many fans and experts doubting that the Dubs can pull it off this season. And while the Warriors themselves were patient throughout the process, it’s no secret that they were anxious for his return.
“Friend to friend, teammate to teammate, just sending him support,” Stephen Curry said on Wiggins. “It’s a tough situation in terms of him being away for so long. But life is bigger than basketball. Whatever him and his family going through, that’s all that matters. Whenever he’s ready to come back, I’m sure he will. That’s how he’s built in terms of being available.”
Just because Wiggs is back in town doesn’t mean he’ll start playing right away. The Warriors will likely look to ramp him up slowly to let him regain his rhythm and cohesion with his teammates.
On the cusp of being whole again, are the Warriors on the verge of making another long playoff run?
Can The Warriors Win The West Again?
Even without Wiggs, the Dubs were finding ways to stay relevant and keep their season alive. Despite major road struggles and guys being in and out of the lineup, Golden State is 6th in the West.
With Wiggins back now, there is a sense that they are a major threat to win the title again.
“You still feel like we can peak at the right time,” Curry said, via Warriors Wire. “There’s a lot of confidence in that. But it’s also you don’t want to be in a situation with everything that we’ve accomplished and the idea of who we are that we’re checking the standings for the last 20 games to see if we’re in or out of the play-in tournament vibe. It’s weird in that sense.”
As the defending champs, nobody is ignoring the Warriors and what they can do come playoff time.
With Wiggins now seemingly on the cusp of a return, it could make the team so much more dangerous to handle in a 7-game series this year.
