The Golden State Warriors received the best news they have in the last few weeks yesterday when it was revealed that Andrew Wiggins is working towards a return after not playing for over 20 games.
Wiggins was taking care of his sick father during this time but ramping up to return to Golden State before the season ends. He addressed his situation in a press conference alongside Warriors’ GM Bob Myers.
“When you’re in a certain situation and your family needs you and requires your attention and your love, that’s my first priority. My career, everything. Family is always first for me and it’ll always be that way… We got everything settled, not fully settled, but in a safe place where I can come back… I’m not there but I’ve been working out. The NBA is a different type of conditioning that you need but it won’t be too long before I am up there.”

Wiggins was arguably the second-best player on the Warriors for their title run last season and will be crucial for any hopes the franchise has of retaining their championship. While Wiggins will have to play through some rust, the team will hope he finds his rhythm soon and can help the Warriors make another Finals run.
The Warriors Still Fighting For Their Spot
Even though there are just a couple of games left in the season, the Golden State Warriors still haven’t secured a spot as a top-6 seed in the West this season. They are currently the 6th seed but only half a game ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers. Even one more loss could drop them back down to the 7-8 matchup, so the return of Wiggins may serve as a massive boost.
Draymond Green has been the defensive anchor for the Warriors without Andrew Wiggins and has had inconsistent results in terms of success. Wiggins and Green have strong defensive communication and chemistry with each other and this pair may have a massive impact on Golden State.
Wiggins is averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 37 games this season.
