Austin Reaves Hails LeBron James For Clutch Pass Before Game-Winner

Austin Reaves was full of praise for LeBron James after the 38-year-old made the clutch pass to find Reaves open for a game-winning 3.

LeBron James has long been considered one of the best minds in basketball. The way LBJ reads the court and impacts the game is unlike what many others can do. However, his ability to perceive the court well has also hurt him at times in his career, as LBJ always passes the ball when a teammate has an open look.

People have criticized LeBron for passing out shots in the clutch when teams are quadruple-teaming him, but basketball purists have always understood LBJ is making the right play. He can’t control whether his teammates miss or not.

In the Lakers’ win against the Detroit Pistons, he made a late pass to Austin Reaves, who became one of the teammates that didn’t miss. Reaves heavily praised the veteran LBJ for passing him the ball.

Austin Reaves on getting the ball from LeBron for the final shot: "Bron's been criticized his whole career for making the right basketball play late in games instead of forcing a shot. … You know when you play with him, you know he's gonna make the right basketball play."

Reaves is 100% correct. While many legends of the game would rather miss the shot themselves than pass it out, LBJ has always tried to maximize what his teammates can provide him. He’s considered one of the best passers in the game for a reason, and Reaves proved why LBJ makes the right play every time he passes out of a game-winner.

How Far Can The Lakers Go With Their Current Roster?

The Lakers are proving that they could be competitive in the West as presently constructed if LeBron James and Anthony Davis are healthy. AD falling sick condemned them to lose consecutive games recently, so the hope will be that AD can stay on the court for as long as possible.

One major injury to either player could completely blow up the Lakers’ season. It’s December and they’re still 4 games below .500, so it doesn’t look great for their long-term prospects despite their strong performances recently.
