There has been a lot of speculation regarding Giannis Anteteokunmpo’s future. The Greek Freak is eligible to sign a huge contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks and he’s said that he’ll extend his stay with the team, but some people aren’t buying the talk right now.

The Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors, and even Dallas Mavericks are expected to make a run at Giannis via trade or in free agency if he doesn’t sign that extension, and, according to NBA analyst Bill Simmons, he should strongly consider the Mavericks because of Luka Doncic:

“If I were him, I’d go (team up with) Luka Doncic. I think Luka is gonna be the next guy. To me it’s a no brainer, I am getting to Dallas. I am hitching my kite to Luka’s right leg,” Simmons told ESPN, as quoted by Essentially Sports.

Bill went on to add that Giannis should think that his biggest shot at an NBA Championship will come next to Luka Doncic, going as far as to call him the best 21-year-old ever:

“I think Giannis is looking at Luka like, ‘if it’s me and him, we’re winning titles. We’re not winning the title, we’re winning four to five titles. I think Luka has the chance to be one of the best six or seven players ever. He’s already the best 21-year old ever… So if I’m Giannis, I’m going there and waiting,” Simmons concluded.

The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly set to be quite aggressive in the offseason and everybody’s available in trade talks but Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. They clearly believe that they can win now, and adding the reigning back-to-back MVP and Defensive Player of the Year to that team would make them one of the biggest contenders in the Association right away.
