- Celtics’ owner Wyc Grousbeck believes Kristaps Porzingis is “seasoned and effective”
- Grousbeck believes that Porzingis is “ready to shine” for the Celtics
- The Celtics acquired Kristaps Porzingis in a three-team trade this summer
One of the bigger trades of the summer was big man Kristaps Porzingis getting sent to the Boston Celtics. Though Porzingis has had some injury issues in the past, many believe that the big man could end up being a difference-maker for the team if he can stay healthy.
When speaking with Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, Celtics governor Wyc Grousbeck claimed that Kristaps Porzingis is ready to win a championship with the team. It seems as though Porzingis is ready to accept whatever role is necessary.
“He is a committed and now seasoned and effective player. He’s a real force. I’m really impressed with his commitment to being part of a winning Celtics team,” Grousbeck said. “… He’s so happy to be here. He’s so ready to shine at this stage of his career. But he sees a team concept, not the KP show… he’s about the team, his teammates, and the banner.”
There’s no doubt that this is good to hear for Celtics fans. Even though Kristaps Porzingis could potentially put up big-time numbers on another team, championship teams require players to sacrifice for the good of the team. He will be the No. 3 option behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and his 3PT shooting (38.5% last season) should help create space for them.
During the 2022-23 season, Kristaps Porzingis averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Hopefully, we see him thrive with the Celtics next season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
Isiah Thomas Thinks Kristaps Porzingis Is The Missing Piece For The Boston Celtics To Win The Championship
At this point, it is clear that the Boston Celtics are a team have everything that is needed to win at the highest level with Kristaps Porzingis’ addition. In fact, Isiah Thomas claimed that Kristaps Porzingis was the missing piece for the Celtics to win a championship. The legendary point guard noted that the “core of the team is still intact” even with the big man joining the fray.
From a talent standpoint, it is fair to say that the Boston Celtics have enough to win the championship. They definitely got better with Kristaps Porzingis’ addition, and we’ll see how they end up doing next season.
