- Kwame Brown went in on analyst Stephen A. Smith about his basketball camp
- Brown pointed out that NBA players often charge around $250-300
- The former player also questioned what Smith could teach his campers
There is no doubt that growing up, a lot of kids end up attending basketball camps to work on their games, compete against other hoopers, and get mentorship about basketball.
However, sometimes, the cost of a basketball camp can be prohibitive. That was the case with Stephen A. Smith’s camp, which cost $2,899 to attend. In fact, former NBA player Kwame Brown called out Stephen A. Smith for this price, even questioning what he will teach the kids in attendance.
“All I want to know is this: what the hell is Stephen A. [Smith] gonna tell a bunch of kids at a basketball camp? The average NBA player, they charge like maybe $250-300 per kid. This motherf****r’s $3,000? Stephen A. Smith gonna charge $3,000 to teach kids about basketball. What the f*** he gon’ tell them?”

To be fair to Stephen A. Smith, the analyst did play college basketball at Winston-Salem University, and it is clear that he has some on-court experience. Still, $2,899 is a lot to charge kids, especially ones coming from working-class families. Hopefully, we see the analyst reduce the prices on his camp in the future.
Kwame Brown Has Had Frequent Beef With Stephen A. Smith In The Past
At this point, a lot of fans have seen Stephen A. Smith’s viral rant about Kwame Brown from the latter’s days as a player, with Smith calling the big man a “bonafide scrub”. There is no doubt that Brown is no fan of Smith either, and once, Brown even challenged Smith to a fight. That is definitely a little wild, though as of right now, no fight between the two has happened.
With that being said, Kwame Brown is somewhat right in criticizing Stephen A. Smith’s camp’s price. For example, CJ McCollum’s youth basketball charges $149.99 per camper. There’s no doubt that this is a much more affordable price point, from a player that has had many quality years in the league.
It remains to be seen if Stephen A. Smith will end up responding to Kwame Brown’s jabs about his basketball camp. Though it is fair for people to want him to reduce the camp’s price, it is also fair for Smith to charge whatever he wants for his services.
