  • Klay Thompson and Devin Booker got into it on the court last season, with Klay bringing up his four championships
  • He was asked about it on a podcast, and Thompson revealed that he’s not proud of it
  • Klay Thompson explained that it happened because he was insecure and that Devin Booker was outplaying him

Klay Thompson made a bit of personal history in 2022 when he got ejected from a game for the first time after getting into it with Devin Booker. He talked some trash to Booker, which blew up because of him talking about the four championships the Warriors have won.

Paul George asked him about it in his latest appearance on Podcast P. And Klay Thompson’s answer is different from what people might have expected.

“I was in my feelings, though,” Klay Thompson said about his trash talk to Devin Booker. “And Book was busting my a** that day. I was not where I needed to be. You know, stuff doesn’t age well, and that didn’t age well.

“Like, I don’t need to be flexing four rings, bro, everybody knows that. That’s on Wikipedia. My game wasn’t where it was at and we all get insecure at times. I’m man enough to admit that we all have our moments of weakness. I’m not proud of that one.

“Because I see Devin Booker and I should be proud of him, man. The work he’s put in, he survived a tough regime in Phoenix where everyone is getting traded, and he’s playing for a new coach every year. But now he’s a franchise player cuz he just kept working. So I admire the guys who have work ethic like that.”

Klay Thompson is a 4-time champion with the Golden State Warriors, but Devin Booker has elevated himself to the level of a franchise player and has also been to the NBA Finals. Klay Thompson isn’t wrong in saying that the 26-year-old, 3-time All-Star, deserves more respect.

Devin Booker Showed Love For Klay Thompson Even Right After The Altercation

It’s great that Klay Thompson has admitted that he was a little wrong, but Devin Booker wasn’t exactly waiting for an apology. He showed love for the Warriors legend right after the incident happened

“I love Klay Thompson, and I have from the beginning, from the draft. Coming out, I said I wanted to be Klay Thompson. But that doesn’t excuse us from competing against each other and talking a little mess with each other. So I had fun with it, big fan of his and his competitive nature, and that’s that.”

It might be fun to see what happens when the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns face off next season, although it’s clear that both players respect each other deeply. Instead of trash talk and words next time, it would be epic to see them exchanging buckets instead.
