The 38-year-old NBA veteran Chris Paul was recently traded to the Golden State Warriors for Jordan Poole and future draft picks.

CP3 will be coached by Steve Kerr, who has led the Warriors to four NBA Championships. Back in 2018, Paul’s Houston Rockets were handed a 116-108 defeat by Kerr’s Golden State Warriors. That day (January 20, 2018),  one of the most popular NBA memes was born when Paul fake laughed following an interaction with Kerr. CP3 finally explained the meme in an Instagram Live video.

“Why did I fake laugh at Steve Kerr? ‘Cause s**t wasn’t funny.”

It’s hilarious to think that Paul once shared a deep rivalry with Kerr and the Warriors. In the 2023-24 NBA season, he’ll need to put away the differences and focus on winning the title.

Paul recently admitted that the 2017-18 Rockets’ only goal was to defeat the Warriors in the playoffs. To be honest, they came close to achieving their goal by pushing the Dubs to seven games in the 2018 Western Conference Finals.

Unfortunately, behind a historic choke job in which the Rockets missed 27 consecutive three-pointers in Game 7, the Rockets were eliminated.

Chris Paul Is Excited To Play For The Golden State Warriors

Chris Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG during the 2022-23 regular season. The 12-time NBA All-Star was initially sent to the Washington Wizards as part of Bradley Beal’s trade to the Phoenix Suns.

Paul was ultimately traded to the Warriors and is excited to play for them. On that note, the veteran point guard also shared his honest thoughts on his partnership with Stephen Curry.

As of now, Paul looks pretty happy to don the Warriors’ jersey next season. The Warriors finished the 2022-23 NBA season with a 44-38 record and clinched the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

The defending champions were eliminated in six games by the Los Angeles Lakers during the Western Conference Semifinals. Will CP3’s addition to the team help them in winning another ring? We will find out over the course of next season.
