The 2022-23 season ended in disastrous fashion for the Phoenix Suns after getting blown out in Game 6 by the Denver Nuggets.

It would seem Devin Booker really hasn’t taken it well, as he skipped his exit interview as well, a day after he didn’t speak to the media following the loss in Game 6.

You can understand that Booker would be extremely frustrated at the moment, considering this is the second year in a row that the Suns have been embarrassed in an elimination game at home. It was Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks who blew them out by 33 points in Game 7 last year and the Nuggets beat them by 25 points here.

Still, there can be no excuse for skipping these media sessions. It is part of their job and just because you are frustrated doesn’t mean you can get away with not speaking to the media. Dillon Brooks was fined $25k by the NBA for refusing to talk to the media in the series against the Los Angeles Lakers and Booker might well get a fine as well.

What Next For Devin Booker And The Suns?

While Booker didn’t play great in an elimination game yet again, there is no denying he had a great postseason on an individual level. Over his 11 games, he averaged 33.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 7.2 APG, and 1.7 SPG, but the top-heavy Suns ultimately fell well short of expectations.

They need to make some changes to the roster and it appears to be pretty likely that Chris Paul gets traded this offseason. Paul was a shell of himself this season and it is hardly surprising that the Suns would want to move on now. The other significant move would be Deandre Ayton being shipped out, as Phoenix will aggressively try to trade him. The question would be whether can they get enough in return for Ayton and Paul where they’d have a good enough roster to compete next season. It is shaping up to be a massive offseason for Phoenix that will determine their fortunes for the upcoming campaigns.
