The Golden State Warriors are one of the most prominent dynasties in NBA history, and there’s no doubt that multiple people played a role in that happening. One of those people is GM Bob Myers, who has made multiple shrewd moves in recent years to ensure that the team remains competitive.

There is a chance that Bob Myers will leave at the end of the season, and the team is already bracing for that possibility. There’s no doubt that Draymond Green is one of the people that will be unhappy if he leaves, and he recently explained why.

“I tweeted ‘that sucks.’ That does suck because again, as I told you all, Bob is one of the guys that I rode in with. That I’ve been on this journey with for 11 years and we’ve all been plugging away each and every year to try and deliver championships—that’s what makes us go, that’s what we’re all in it for. And so, to know there’s a possibility that he may not be here does not sit well with me,” he said.

“Even if he is gone, that relationship will still be like this,” Green said. “That is a relationship that I’ve built that will last for the rest of my life. Someone I confide in, someone I trust. And so to know that he may not be here, like, that sucks, that hurts, because I’ve appreciated going to work with him every day for the last 11 years and the things that he’s taught me. I think in life we all need people that hold us accountable; he holds me accountable at a totally different standard. He don’t hold me accountable like ‘Oh, I’m the general manager of the team.’ He holds me accountable as a man, he holds me accountable as a leader, he holds me accountable from a friendship standpoint.”

“To know that there’s a possibility that he may not be here does not sit well with me… He holds me accountable at a totally different standard.”

It is clear that Draymond Green appreciates what Bob Myers has brought to the franchise over the years. Hopefully, we do see the team figure out a way to extend him, as he is an indispensable part of the franchise.

Bob Myers Could Become The Highest-Paid GM In The League If He Stays With The Warriors

Even though he might yet leave, the Warriors are doing everything they can to convince Bob Myers to stay. In fact, their contract offer to him would make him the highest-paid GM in the entire league.

“While it may not be enough to keep Bob Myers with the Golden State Warriors, multiple league sources believe that the contract offer extended to the team’s president of basketball operations would make him the highest-paid general manager in the NBA,”

We will see what Bob Myers decides to do this summer. There’s no doubt that the financial incentive from the Warriors is there, but sometimes, life decisions are not about the money.
