An activity that a lot of people who are basketball fans enjoy is creating their own all-time starting five. There have been a lot of fantastic players in the NBA, and there’s no doubt that it’s fun to think about certain legends playing on the same team.
Draymond Green is the latest person to reveal their starting 5. He notably included his teammate Stephen Curry over Magic Johnson, alongside Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, and Michael Jordan. There is no doubt that this is an elite starting five, and it’s tough to see any team beating them. (26:30)
My all-time starting five is Shaq at the 5 and Steph at the 1. I got LeBron James at the 3. Now, again, this is where the eras and stuff gets tricky because what era of basketball am I talking about? But I’m just going to talk basketball in the sense of who I think will make a great five.
Steph at the 1, Shaq at the 5, LeBron at the 3, Timmy D at the 4. And did you think I was going to go anywhere other than MJ at the 2? You got to be out of your mind.
Although I must say, Kobe was a very close second, a very close second for me on my starting five.
This list by Draymond Green differs from his top 5 players of all-time list, which includes Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson. It is clear that this lineup was more about picking five legends that would work well together, and there’s no doubt that this lineup by Draymond Green has almost no weaknesses.
Obviously, these legends won’t ever play together in any situation besides NBA 2K. However, this is definitely an interesting exercise, and it’ll be interesting to see if anyone ends up coming up with a starting lineup that can defeat Draymond Green’s.
