Durant has so many iconic tweets that it could be a list unto itself. He has hilarious tweets about his love life, current basketball affairs, instigating arguments through likes, and even an intense feud with Kendrick Perkins that exists on the platform alone. One of KD’s most notable moments came when he accidentally tweeted thoughts for his burner account on his main account. He’s most definitely the NBA’s Twitter king.

Social Media And The Modern NBA

It has become almost impossible to separate social media from the NBA. Basketball discourse on Twitter is extremely active and has millions of users regularly discussing the game on an hour-by-hour basis. It can keep people constantly informed on the game while giving them a platform to air their thoughts.

When so many people are constantly talking about you, NBA players are naturally going to listen. Even accidentally liking something can lead to controversy, as we have seen in so many instances. Players that understand the more banal nature of NBA Twitter arguments often use the platform to troll the fanbase. This is by purposely instigating their fanbases by using inside jokes found in NBA Twitter, as Joel Embiid did when Ben Simmons was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

Social media is indelible to basketball, so there are definitely going to be a lot more iconic player tweets in the coming years.
