The 2022-23 offseason will see stars like Kyrie IrvingJames HardenDraymond Green, and more hit the market, but there are always valuable finds to be made towards the end of the free agency pool.

Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose will be a free agent this summer after the Knicks declined the team option on his contract. With it being reported that Rose will likely move to a contender in the summer, fans are talking about what future teams could use a guard like Rose off the bench.

A Knicks fan said that Rose should go back to the Bulls and finish his career in his hometown.

One fan didn’t care about the location, as long as it was a contending team.

One fan explained that there are good basketball reasons behind Rose going back to the Bulls with Lonzo Ball’s injury issues.

One fan joked about the Lakers’ interest in Rose.

A fan explained that the story of Rose returning to Chicago is better, but if he wants to contend, he should go to the Suns.

More fans agreed that Rose’s best path to a ring would come on the Suns.

Another fan jokingly said he should sign with the Miami Heat after they trade for Damian Lillard to be their backup guard on the roster.

Naturally, most people want the Rose homecoming to Chicago. The team has had point guard issues for the last two seasons and could rely on Rose among the options to step in. He was mostly out of the rotation for the Knicks last season, averaging 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 27 games played.

Celtics, Suns, Bulls, And Lakers In The Running For Rose

Derrick Rose hasn’t had the opportunity to play for a contender since his prime MVP days on the Bulls, usually stuck in rebuilding projects around the league. Teams like the Pistons and the 2021 Knicks were not expected to make deep playoff runs, so everyone is curious about how Rose would perform as a vet PG on the bench of a title contender. The Celtics, Suns, Bulls, and Lakers are reportedly targeting the 35-year-old.

The Celtics have a clear need for a backup point guard, with injuries concerns around Malcolm Brogdon and the recent trade of Marcus Smart. The Suns will take anyone at this point but could easily retain Cameron Payne to be their backup PG next season.

The Lakers can’t target Chris Paul in the summer anymore and have all rostered point guards in free agency like D’Angelo Russell and Dennis Schroder. They already drafted Jalen Hood-Schifino to be a backup guard, so a run at Rose may not be a priority.
