Devin Booker and Luka Doncic added another chapter in their growing rivalry after the Phoenix Suns’ win over the Dallas Mavericks earlier today.

Booker trash-talked Luka as the game ended, leading to the pair getting into a scuffle, with Doncic telling Booker to ‘shut the f**k up‘.

After what happened in the 2022 playoffs between the Mavs and the Suns, fans loved to see some old-school aggression between two of the best young stars in the league.

A fan believes the blame falls on Booker for his actions instead of Luka’s response, given the reactions former teammate Jalen Brunson and current teammate Kyrie Irving had to Booker’s trash-talk, “Jalen Brunson and Kyrie Irving are some of the most friendly dudes in the NBA and they both got tired of Booker’s sh*t. It ain’t just Luka.”

Another fan loves the rivalry, “This Luka and Devin Booker rivalry is needed, I want pure hatred on the court.”

A Mavs fan wasn’t happy with Booker disappearing down the stretch and then trash-talking the second the Suns had clinched the win, “Book started talkin’ once the game was iced. Can’t make this sh*t up. Luka shoulda made that shot but Book was quiet as hell while KD was carrying them home for the last couple of minutes.”

One Mavs fan loved Luka’s response to Booker, “‘Next time don’t wait till there are 3 seconds left to talk’ is a banger quote from Luka.”

A Knicks fan wasn’t thrilled with Booker acting the way he did with Doncic after what happened in the 2022 playoffs, “Booker talking trash to the guy who beat him by 50 in his house last season lmaooooo.”

Even analyst Nick Wright didn’t like Booker trying to insult Doncic after the playoff history between the two, “Devin Booker talking after how Luka sent him home last year is absolutely hilarious.”

Lakers’ reporter Jason Timpf was also upset with Booker, “Devin Booker getting his ass handed to him by Luka on his home floor in the playoffs, having nothing to say at that point, then taking a victory lap on him in a regular season game where KD hit the game-winner feels super lame to me.”

Doncic infamously said ‘everybody tough when they up‘ when the Suns had a 3-2 lead over the Mavericks in the 2022 playoffs, which led to Doncic orchestrating a dominant 2-game stretch where the Suns season ended. it was bad enough to make the organization issue an apology.

With Kevin Durant on the Suns and Kyrie Irving on the Mavs, this rivalry may get a lot juicier. The Suns are decisively better on paper than the Mavs, as they were last season as well. But this game showed that a playoff series between these teams would be incredibly entertaining this year as well.

The Mavericks Are Not Ready To Contend

A Mavs-Suns series in 2023 may not be the nail-biter from last season. Dallas just fell to 2-5 in games with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the court together. This was another game that came down to a final game-deciding possession. Kyrie has missed shots in this situation for Dallas, but this time it was Doncic missing a layup.

The team needs more time to find chemistry and have an offseason to replenish their defense, as the team currently constructed is among the worst defenses in the NBA. The Suns are rightfully among the favorites in the West, but the Mavs as a roster still have a lot of work to do.
