Russell Westbrook lined up against the team that traded him in the winter when the Los Angeles Clippers faced the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Clippers won the game by 7 points with Westbrook scoring 14 and making a few 3-pointers as well. After drilling a jumper in LeBron James‘ face, Westbrook taunted the legend that he was teammates with 2 months ago. Fans loved seeing that side of Brodie once again.

Fans wanted to see Russ taunt even more, “He should’ve rocked the baby.”

A fan mocked LeBron, “LeBron right now.”

One fan observed that Russ hit LeBron with a signature move, “Cotton shot too easy for Russ.”

Another fan called Russ goofy.

A Lakers fan was mad that Russ was draining 3s against them after not doing it consistently for them, “Yep, never did that for the Lakers but ofc against the Lakers, he’s Steph Curry. If he played like that for the Lakers, they would have made the playoffs.”

A Russ fan was happy to see this, “Brodie’s Back.”

The Clippers are 10-12 with Westbrook since he joined while the Lakers are 16-9 since trading Russ away.

Ultimately, it was still the best move for the Lakers given the success they’ve had. They looked very strong at times in this loss, like overturning a 24-point deficit to 7 in under 6 minutes. However, Westbrook leaves this encounter with the spoils as a starter on a Clippers team that just won their 11th consecutive game against the Lakers.

Have The Clippers Secured A Top-6 Seed?

The only way the Clippers can fall out of the top-6 at this point is if they lose both their remaining games against the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers while the Lakers win both their games against Phoenix and the Utah Jazz. They’re currently tied with the Warriors for the 5th seed but have the season tiebreaker, so they’d finish ahead of them if they end with tied records.

A win in their next game against Portland will secure a top-6 seed for them. If they finish 5th in the West, as they are situated now, they will face the Phoenix Suns in the first round. If they finish 6th, they will face the Sacramento Kings, a team with whom they had one of the best regular-season games in recent years.
