Kobe Bryant is one of the most well-known players across the globe. People have adopted the term Mamba Mentality when talking about working hard and achieving your goals. Kobe Bryant has been a hard worker all his life, and his legacy is built on his climb to the top of the mountain.

Before Kobe Bryant was even drafted by the Charlotte Hornets and then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, he attended a workout prior to the draft itself with the Los Angeles Clippers. One of the former Clippers assistants shared some exclusive footage in an article by Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times.

Almost as soon as Kalamian hit record, at 9:30 a.m., and 17-year-old Kobe Bryant began pogoing off two legs to make a series of layups, performing “probably the most athletic Mikan drill you’re ever going to see,” Kalamian recognized what he and others were watching was unique.

“At one point Jim Brewer, one of the assistant coaches, walked by,” Kalamian said. “And he said to me, ‘Are you looking at what I’m looking at right now?’”

“This one, I knew was going to be something that I would want to look back at someday,” Kalamian said. “I kind of put it aside and kept it in a box for a very long time.”

Kobe Bryant has shown himself to be one of the most talented players to ever grace the NBA. His elite scoring started from the fundamentals, as shown in the video. The Mikan drill is universally used to work on one's finishing around the rim, and Bryant shows off some of his athleticism in the clip while working out for the Los Angeles Clippers.

While Kobe Bryant was never a Clipper, it seems that at least a few people recognized Bryant's talent. Despite the fact that they selected Lorenzen Wright with the 7th pick during the 1996 Draft instead of Kobe Bryant, it seems that Bryant has left a lasting impression on some of the people who watched him work out.
