It has been a great seven-year run on Undisputed on FS1 for Shannon Sharpe, but the NFL Hall of Famer is set to leave the show and the network after the NBA Finals.

While there is no word yet on what Sharpe plans to do next, it appears another former NFL player is in line to potentially replace him. Front Office Sports is reporting that LeSean McCoy is set to have an audition with Skip Bayless for the role.

“LeSean McCoy is emerging as an early possible contender to succeed Shannon Sharpe as Skip Bayless’ debate partner on ‘Undisputed.'”

“The former NFL star turned co-host of FS1’s “SPEAK” is expected to have an extended audition with the irascible Bayless once Sharpe takes his contractual buyout from Fox Sports, two sources with knowledge of the situation told Front Office Sports.”

McCoy only joined FS1 last year, so he is still quite new to this role on television. He only retired from the NFL in 2021 and while he wasn’t as great of a player as Sharpe was, he still was First-Team All-Pro twice and made 6 Pro Bowls.

McCoy isn’t the only one in the running, with Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, Nick Wright, Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Michael Irvin all also being linked to the vacant spot next to Bayless. The report also states that Skip will have the final say on who gets the job and he is unlikely to choose someone who would seriously challenge him on the show.

Charles Barkley And Kyrie Irving Reacted To Shannon Sharpe Leaving ‘Undisputed’

Sharpe’s relationship with Bayless had really deteriorated and there have been some ugly back and forths between them over the last year or so. While it seemed like they had mended fences after that, it looks like things were just never the same.

When news broke regarding Sharpe’s exit, Kyrie Irving tweeted that it was something he should have done a long time ago. Charles Barkley, meanwhile, took a shot at Bayless by calling him an idiot, which wasn’t all that surprising considering they have beefed for so long now.

Skip’s former co-host Stephen A. Smith says he won’t ever disrespect him but he has offered Sharpe the opportunity to join him on First Take. It will be interesting to see what Shannon decides to do next.
