Frank Vogel Could Become The Celtics New Head Coach, As Ime Udoka Is ‘Considering The Possibility Of Resigning’

Frank Vogel could find his way to Boston if Ime Udoka ends up resigning as the Celtics' head coach.

The Boston Celtics saga with Ime Udoka just started, and things can get a lot worse in the following days. Recent reports revealed that Udoka was facing a big suspension by the Celtics, which left people wondering what happened between the young coach and the organization.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Udoka had an improper relationship with a female member of the Boston Celtics staff, which prompted the team to make this hard but necessary decision.

Now, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Udoka could be suspended for the entire 2022-23 NBA season. This news apparently didn’t sit well with the coach, who could make an even bigger decision and part ways with the Celtics before spending one year without coaching.

Ime Udoka Might Resign From Celtics, Frank Vogel Could Replace Him

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reveals that Udoka has considered the possibility of resigning from the Celtics, as everybody is getting ready for him to be suspended for a whole year.

Ime Udoka has considered the possibility of resigning, sources told @SInow. Internally, coaches and staff members are bracing for the likelihood that Udoka will be suspended for one year for having a relationship with a female staffer.

Moreover, Mannix claims that former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel could be the replacement for Udoka, even though Joe Mazzulla would be the team’s interim coach during this campaign.

Don’t be surprised if Frank Vogel is considered for the Celtics bench. Joe Mazzulla is expected to be elevated, but the staff is thin with head coaching experience. Vogel has a longstanding relationship with Brad Stevens.

It would be shocking to see this happening, but some things are unclear in this situation, and anything could happen between Udoka and the Celtics. Vogel is a coach with experience, a defensive-minded leader who is two years removed from winning the NBA championship. Perhaps the Celtics prefer to wait this year with the coach that led them to the Finals last season, but in the case that Udoka decides to leave, they could have the right replacement for him.
