Giannis Antetokounmpo Has A Better Mid-Range Shot Than Kawhi Leonard In NBA 2K21

NBA 2K21 has drawn a lot of criticism among the NBA community lately. It’s reportedly tougher to shoot and score overall and there are some player ratings that have raised a lot of questions.

Stephen Curry has a higher block rating than LeBron James, for instance, while some young studs that should have a rating of 90+ (i.e Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker), were overlooked by the developers.

Now, the NBA community has noticed that Giannis Antetokounmpo, who’s one of the best and most dominant players in the league but not exactly much of a shooter, has a higher mid-range scoring (84) ranking than Kawhi Leonard (81), arguably a top-5 player in that regard.

Don’t get me wrong, Giannis should in fact be one of the highest-ranked players in almost every single aspect of the game but mid-range scoring definitely isn’t one of them. He does most of his damage from within close range and is pretty much unstoppable when he drives through the lane.

Kawhi, on the other hand, as a Michael Jordanish, Kobe Bryantish kind of mid-range game and continues to master that art on a yearly basis. It’s not that Giannis’ rating shouldn’t be high as much as that it shouldn’t be higher than Kawhi Leonard’s.

We get it, it’s a videogame, not real life, so perhaps we shouldn’t look that much into it. Then again, maybe it’s time the developers take another look at some of those ratings.
