It is good to be able to poke fun at yourself at times and Grant Williams did just that recently.

When NBA fans on Twitter were asked to name the most “I’m not him” moment they had ever seen, Williams pointed to his most embarrassing one of the season.

“Imma Make Em Both.”

For some context, the Boston Celtics were taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 7th and the score was tied at 109 with less than a second remaining when Williams was sent to the foul line. Donovan Mitchell attempted to psyche him out but Williams boldly claimed he was going to make both free throws, only to miss both of them.

It was incredibly embarrassing and the Cavaliers would go on to win 118-114 in overtime, which just made it that much worse. His teammate Jaylen Brown did defend him after the incident but it was clear that it affected Williams quite a bit.

His free throw shooting percentage stood at 81.1% after this game but he only shot 50.0% from the line for the rest of the season. If he ends up having to go to the line at some critical moment in the playoffs, it could spell trouble for the Celtics. Williams has had a solid season apart from this though, averaging 8.1 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 1.7 APG while playing good defense.

Grant Williams Responded To Draymond Green’s Issues With The New CBA

While Williams focuses on helping the Celtics get back to the NBA Finals, he has one other major responsibility too. He is the First Vice President of the NBA Players Association (NBPA) and was very much involved in the discussions regarding the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The new CBA has come under heavy criticism from many, including Draymond Green who felt it ensures there won’t be another dynasty in the NBA, due to the salary cap rules. Williams reacted to those comments by saying that Draymond didn’t fully understand the actual breakdown and that he’ll get a better idea once all the details are out.
