The Golden State Warriors became one of the most iconic teams in the NBA after creating a dynasty in the last eight years. They’ve been to six NAB Finals, winning four championships in the process.
Their star Big 3 has been crucial to their success, and one of their former rivals recently explained how special they are and how well they mesh with each other. Iman Shumpert recently discussed the special bond between Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on the bond, explaining this (1:06 mark):
“When we [the Cavaliers] played them, like yeah, Steph is the head of the snake and the most dangerous man with a jersey. I totally get that. Klay Thompson is going to be the most consistent jump shooter, whether he’s in a slump or not. To me, I don’t even want to see this form go up. I don’t want to see you raise it to see if you’re hot. I don’t care if you’re off, I don’t care about the slump they’re talking about, I don’t care, because if he’s hot, I don’t wanna hear it.”
“But with Draymond, you never felt like you could take his game away. I never felt like he was not going to know the coverages. It was like, ‘brother, you studied the Cavs harder than the other teams?’ He was barking everything out that they were doing, but it’s like, somebody that pays attention to detail like that, who watches film like that, they’re very important and they add a lot of value and they teach a lot of players stuff that you don’t notice.”
Shumpert has a lot of knowledge of the game, and he doesn’t hesitate to share it. The fact that he’s praising Draymond’s knowledge tells you a lot about how special Green’s IQ is. He’s not the best scorer that other stars in the league are, but he’s definitely a key piece to the Warriors’ success.
Green is, as they say, the glue that puts everything together for the Dubs. Fortunately, after weeks of rumors and speculation, he’s back on the Warriors, ready to run it back with them and win another championship in the Bay.
Draymond Green Gets Honest On His Relationship With Curry And Thompson
Leading up to free agency, Green talked about his relationship with Curry and Thompson, admitting that he was in constant communication with his partners since they all share a special bond.
Even after he re-signed a new deal with the Warriors, he doubled down on his comments, making it clear that he has a special relationship with Curry and Thompson.
The Dubs have a big chance to win it all next season with their star trio back on the court. Chris Paul is joining them to try to win that elusive NBA championship, but age could be a big factor playing against the Warriors.
Green is ready to run it back, just like Curry, and Dubs Nation must be excited to see what this Big Three is bringing to the table next season.
