The Houston Rockets are expected to take a step toward contention after three seasons rooted to the bottom of the NBA standings and some top-tier lottery picks to show for it.

The star of the franchise is the No. 2 overall pick from 2021, Jalen Green. Green is one of the most active social media presences in the NBA and he recently described how he deals with Twitter hate to Paul George on PG13’s podcast.

“I got a couple of burners. Going on Twitter after the game like, ‘Yo, I got off tonight’ or it’s like, ‘Damn, everyone is on my head’. They’ll be cool with you, praise you, and all that. I have a bad game, ‘he’s not good, he’s going to China.’ I’m like ‘Bro, Goddamn.”

The hate can be hard to deal with, especially when you’re a high-profile young player in the league like Green without a lot of success to show for their first few seasons in the league. He’s been criticized by fans as well as veterans in the NBA. With all the noise around the Rockets this summer, it seems he will finally get a chance to push for wins next season.

The Rockets Bringing In Veteran Reinforcements

After a few seasons of running young players strategically to sink to the bottom of the NBA, the Rockets now have the chance to progress to the next step and make a playoff run. They have the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, where they could select versatile point guard Amen Thompson. In addition, the team is heavily linked with bringing James Harden back, who is still an elite playmaker though he can’t handle the scoring any longer.

They already have Ime Udoka as head coach, who’s been very highly regarded despite the controversies that pushed him out of the Boston Celtics. Udoka’s achievements last year are being further amplified by the catastrophic disaster Joe Mazzulla has been in the Conference Finals. Either way, we may have a problem in Houston sooner rather than later.
