Jamal Murray Fires Back At Kendrick Perkins For Picking Chris Paul As MVP Over Nikola Jokic

Jamal Murray didn’t like Kendrick Perkins’ hot take about the 2021 NBA MVP race. As of right now, Nikola Jokic appears to be the clear favorite to take the award home but people are still making the case for other players, including Stephen Curry and even Chris Paul.

Perkins took to social media to praise the Phoenix Suns’ point guard, explaining why he should get the award over the rest of the candidates, Jokic included.

“Joel Embiid is still in the running, Giannis, you still got Steph Curry, you still got a guy like Julius Randle. But guess what, CP3 should be the clear-cut favorite. Same organization, same position, same record.”

“The last time the Phoenix Suns had the best record in the NBA, a player from their team won the MVP award. Why’re we not keeping the same energy when it comes down to CP3?”

“And stop moving the goalposts when it comes down to the MVP award every year. Again, the Phoenix Suns have the best record in the NBA. Steve Nash won it a decade and a half ago, why shouldn’t CP3 win it?”

People should stop with the Jokic is the clear favorite for MVP!!! TBH Chris Paul should be the favorite. Carry on… pic.twitter.com/ZKsgYCaQX0

Murray heard what KP had to say and his response was a lot shorter than Perkins’ argument, using Perkins’ signature phrase to tell him he was just wrong.

“Omg lol… YOU carry on,” Murray replied on Twitter.

Perkins didn’t keep quiet and he replied to the point guard, saying that he loves Jokic but that doesn’t mean he’s the clear-cut favorite to win it all, and more candidates should get more attention from now until the end of the regular season.

“Lol! Must have struck a nerve with that one. Don’t get it twisted I love the big fella but can we let the season play. Carry the hell on…”

Besides Perkins, more people have made the case for Chris Paul. Charles Barkley made the case for the Point GOD not long ago and just like them, more people think the same. CP3 took the Suns to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, taking them to compete for the 1st spot in the Western Conference alongside Devin Booker.

Whenever he’s gone, teams have played a lot better and that has been the case in Arizona. However, it’ll be interesting to see if this will be enough for him to get an award that seems to be closer to Jokic every day.
