Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have reached the 2023 NBA Finals against all odds. After all, they were given just a 3% chance to defeat the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Heat will face off against the Denver Nuggets. But fans would have loved to see a rematch from the 2020 NBA Finals between Butler’s Heat and LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers. Speaking of which, an NBA fan on Twitter recently applauded Butler for carrying the Heat to the finals. The fan also criticized James for failing to do so with a better roster than the Heat.

The Miami Heat have a knack for nurturing talent that usually goes under the radar by most teams. The organization’s roster featured seven undrafted players in Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, Caleb Martin, Duncan Robinson, Udonis Haslem, Haywood Highsmith, and Omer Yurtseven, this postseason.
As the fan pointed out, Jimmy Butler didn’t complain to the front office to get him more superstar teammates. Instead, he took the responsibility of carrying the team on his back. It is definitely a huge difference between Butler’s and LeBron’s styles of leadership.
The Lakers were terrible for most of the season until Rob Pelinka made a few trades to bolster the roster around the NBA trade deadline. He traded Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, and the 2027 first-round draft pick to land D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt. Since then, everything changed for the Lakers. They became a great team and went on to clinch the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.
But still, they couldn’t get to the NBA Finals and beat the Denver Nuggets. The fan has a good point, that LeBron James tried everything. From putting Pelinka and the Lakers under pressure to give him Westbrook in the offseason, then trading Westbrook for better players so he can compete for the championship.
Despite having a great supporting cast, LeBron James failed to lead the Lakers to the 2023 NBA Finals.
But to be honest, James is 38 years old, and expecting him to carry the team at this age is a bit too much. Moreover, the Lakers were the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
Either way, if Jimmy and the Miami Heat win the NBA Finals as the eighth seed; it will be one of the biggest achievements in the history of the league.
Jimmy Butler Opened Up On His Leadership
Jimmy Butler’s a sensational player, there are no two ways to look at it. But on top of being a great player, Butler is an even better leader.
After clinching a spot in the 2023 NBA Finals, Butler explained why the Miami Heat wins so many games despite giving chances to several unproven players.
“They always do exactly what you ask of them to do, which is why you want to play with guys like that, which is why they’re the reason that we win so many games. I don’t call them role players, I call them teammates because your role can change on any given day… We got some hoopers, we got some real deal basketball players that can score, can defend, can pass, and can win games for us.”
So far, Butler’s style of leadership has done wonders for the Heat. He has led them to their second NBA Finals appearance in the last four seasons. But can Butler finally win the first ring of his career against the Denver Nuggets? Only time will tell.
