The 2022-23 Miami Heat ultimately fell short in their quest to win the championship but they were still certainly a very special group. That incredible run to the NBA Finals though ensured their players were going to be in-demand when they hit free agency and two key pieces are on the way out.

Gabe Vincent is signing with the Los Angeles Lakers while Max Strus is headed to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a sign-and-trade, although his move isn’t official just yet. With the two of them leaving, Jimmy Butler hilariously said his goodbyes to them on Instagram.

Butler would be sad to see them leave, but for two undrafted players like Vincent and Strus, the money was too good to pass up. He would know that too, but you better believe he will go at them when they face off next season as that’s just who he is.

While losing these two will hurt the Heat, they did at least manage to re-sign Kevin Love. They also acquired Josh Richardson on a two-year deal and he’d be tasked with helping fill the void left by the departures in their backcourt. They still need to add more pieces though and there are some big names still out there.

Pat Riley Spoke On Getting Jimmy Butler More Help Next Season

Butler got a whole lot of praise for leading the Heat to the Finals, but he seemed to really run out of gas once they got there. You really felt that carrying that heavy load on offense for as long as he did, took a toll on him and he needed more help around him.

Team president Pat Riley said he would like to get Butler some support, but admitted it is not easy to get the perfect complement to him. The name that has come up quite frequently is Damian Lillard but not a whole lot seems to be happening on that front at this moment.
